Hundreds of thousands of cubic metres of logs on the storm hit forest floor: A bushfire risk to communities and an opportunity to save timber jobs.

Demand Government Act Now!

Local communities want the logs felled by wild storms gone as they are a bush fire hazard and timber communities want to use them to save jobs!

This should be a no brainer it is:

1. Good for jobs: Forest contractors and their crews who have been laid off due to court injunctions preventing harvesting in the east of Victoria- they are ready to salvage fallen timber to help save hundreds of jobs at timber mills which have run out or are running out of wood.

2. Good for the economy: Victoria is facing a severe shortage of sawn timber and dramatically escalating prices putting pressure on tradies and the cost of living.

3. Good for the environment: The health of the forest relies on the removal of the logs and the timber industry can turn them into wood products which store carbon rather than to let rot or burn on the forest floor emitting carbon dioxide.

4. Good for the community: The fallen timber represents a catastrophic bushfire risk and a threat to lives, property and the environment.

Time is running out to save jobs and salvage the timber before it becomes unusable .

We need your help! Government and bureaucratic inaction and green tape is proving a ridiculous obstacle to a good outcome for the local community, timber communities, the environment and jobs.

Take Action today by emailing the Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews and Environment Minster Lily D’Ambrosio and calling on them to get the fallen timber out of the forest and into the mills.
